… and in my step ….
Next door there is a small wilderness area which draws and delights every day of the year.
Today, the second last in December, with temperature around 10C, the ambiance was enhanced by the fragrance of earth.
And a pungent pile of decomposing leaves.
Suddenly clouds appeared and the sun rolled its eyes and the wind came up and the rain came down – it is, after all, Victoria with its "wait-twenty-minutes" weather.
Back indoors the scented geranium was blooming in the windowsill garden and the leaves stained my fingers with perfume.
Twenty-minutes-later, as I write this, the sun is out, the sky is blue with some raised-eyebrow'ed clouds, and tree branches are jiving to the wind's beat.
