Last week it snowed, melted overnight; next day, it snowed again, by morning it was gone. Then it snowed – seriously – across two days and two nights. It was as if Victoria was put into a freezer.
Then – yesterday – it was taken out of the freezer and put on the counter. To thaw. Which it did. Overnight.
Today we are back to "twenty minutes" of sun … rain…. wind …. sun and so on .
Now that the 'freeze' is over, I am letting myself realize how wonderful and worthwhile it is to
… walk freely in lightweight footwear again, arms and hips swinging, shoulders relaxed, eyes exploring the world around and not in a fixation on the state of the ground.
… to come indoors but not be confined indoors by closed door and closed windows; to pop back outside whenever and for any reason whatsoever.
… to realize "Sakes, it's only weather" (Robert Frost : The Runaway) and feel a satisfaction in having 'weathered' it. But to realize, by the comparison – oh, it was not enjoyed! And it never occurred to me once across those days to blow bubbles in that snow: the playful part of my nature must have been stifled.
