  • Coat hangers; all dressed up

I wonder how many people in the world use coat hangers for their clothing and how many hangers that adds up to.  I wonder what people who collect  interesting coat hangers are called and how many kinds of coat hangers there are.  I wonder about their origin – um, the coat hangers, that is;  however, the people who collect them are likely interesting also.  And what a thought to think that all sorts of people in all sorts of places are daily using hangers for all sorts of garments; what a connection! what a collection!

Always on the alert to acquire more coat hangers that have a personal touch, my own influence being particularly satisfying,  for some reason, this morning, with fifteen minutes free before I had to leave, I thought of hangers and ties, simple wooden hangers,  a comlement of the two that would retain the character of the tie, a simple procedure.

IMG_6778Well, by golly ….  within fifteen minutes I had come up with this!

That is not a true Windsor knot, I don't think; it may be a half-Windsor; oh wait, maybe I am thinking of half-hitch and macrame; where is one's father when one needs him.

IMG_6784In any case, I am pleased;  all the criteria were met.  The ladies at the church thrift store were more than helpful (as usual) at coming up with the certain type of hanger I need to do more.  In the last major simplifying I culled 144 ties from my collection but a quick delve into the tie suitcase turned up a dozen or so and what a delight for the chance to turn them into something both decorative and functional.

I will post the method soonest!

(These photos are awfully dark;  click on them to enlarge and then click again to see the colour and the pattern; don't know why they are so dark – it was sunny!)
