  • How much sugar in a can of pop? You’ve got to be kidding!

IMG_6935Today, when I read this article in the paper about how many teaspoons of sugar there are in a can of pop, I went beyond my usual "wow" and "tsk tsk" response. Maybe it was the word "visualize".

I imagined filling a glass with water equal to the amount of  pop in a can.  Then I mentally measured out ten teaspoons of sugar and stirred them into the water.  Would ten teaspoons dissolve in that amount of liquid?  Could I drink the now sugared water?

Heck, at the height of my sugar addiction, the most I ever added to tea or coffee was two to three teaspoons of sugar. Ten?  No way.

The manufacturers of pop must be doing something to get that much sugar into the pop.

    Why?
