Many years ago I was so obsessed captivated by the wish to somehow capture the look/feeling of a house sparrow's feathers in an article of clothing – and could not come up with anything suitable – that I finally did a painting of a garment made of feathers.
This morning these fallen leaves, from this tree evoked that same feeling.
I'm not wanting a length of material (as I was then) to turn into the Two-Slit Shrug (my ongoingly favourite design now) (originally a Snug) but more a small item, like wrist warmers. *
The initial comes-to-mind is to take rectangles of fleece material and random-stitch appropriate colours from the thrums collection onto them and the stitch them up leaving a hole for the thumb.
I have a lot-on-my-plate at the moment but I feel I could fit this into the schedule.
The wind and rain, overnight, had moved these leaves down the hill land arranged them in a perfect shawl design. Which I 'picked up' and 'draped around my neck and shoulders'. As one can do with imagination.
* Wrist warmers, with a light pair of gloves underneath, are perfect for this time of year. I'll do a post soonish. I also noticed that a local bazaar, along with knitted scarves and socks and slippers, had what they called "Texting Gloves" which were fingerless gloves. Neat.
