Last summer the public was invited to come down to the Central Library Courtyard (Victoria, BC) and paint a tile which would become a mosaic for Canada's 150th birthday. We came. We painted. Here it is. It is beautiful, collaborative, vibrant and I am so proud and grateful to have taken part.
I did a haiku.
Two geese attempting
To form a V, having to
Settle on an I.
I like the simple form of haiku, of getting to essence in 5-7-5 beats; of raising eyes to sky and perhaps seeing two geese flying by and being companioned by that poem; of hoping it a fitting gift for the celebration of 150 years by my country, my home … Canada.
