(re-post)
(I wonder if that tree is still there. When I am in the area again I hope I remember to check and see!)
Outside the Art Gallery of Greater Victoria is this permanent, growing, ever-changing, exquisite work of art: sequoia tree.
The sun climbing the trunk early on a summer morning inspires walking closer and staring upward.
You almost expect it to stretch into the touch if you put your hand on the bark.
What kept me stopped and gazing was the bronze and the green and the soft and the crisp and the depth of the texture of the base.
Could I translate that into something I could wear?
The challenge stayed with me as I finally strolled on.

We have sequoia pinecones from the government building in Victoria. Happy holidays.
