Out of the Ordinary

The tide was out so I walked in where the water would normally be.

Walking from Ogden Point here in Victoria BC along Dallas Road and looking down to where the ocean is normally and noticing that the steps are visible and not in the water…..trot along quicker…..such a strange feeling to look down and see space….stranger still to walk down those steps to the bottom one and stand there and worry about crunching sea life and then extend foot…….and stand on the bottom of the ocean – at least the bottom of the ocean when the ocean is 'at home'.

Others had been there before me, leaving their mark….and this round circle with a hole……and these squished-out mounds…….geoduck?  geoduck poop?

Img_4949Img_4953The ocean's artwork.  Isn't it exquisite.  I stood and stared.

And when it was time to go I scooped a hole in the sand and within a few seconds the water had filled it, the ocean had reclaimed its space.  It was 'at home'.
