Out of the Ordinary

Month: June 2024

  • Haiku

    Blanket of seagulls
Trying to keep the beach warm,
    Oh, they’re unravelling.

    I wipe my finger
Around the rim of my mind
    Lifting out a poem

    Cat laces itself
Ahead of me up the stairs
    Welcoming me home.

    One of my sons looked
Up at the moon and gave
Me the gift of “sky ball”

    The train flanked a field
    And simultaneously
    Farmer and I waved.

    Conscious breathing fans
    The spark of intuition
    T’ward enlightenment.

    The greatest gift I
Bring you is  “I love you, but”
    MySelf I love more.

    Spring haiku

    Fingertips of rain
    Tapping morse code secrets on
    “Won’t tell a soul’ leaves.

    Coaxed into magic
    By someone who believes in
    It, but not too much.

    I wanted to rest
My head on the shoulder of
    His voice forever.

    This is what I saw:
    Clouds formed a perfect keyhole
    Around a lone star.

    I am ageless, but
In a body that grows old
    Curious….
    Amused…
    Distraught…
    Amazed…
                   I observe.

    Something of value,
For I am a signed copy
    In this book of life.

Haiku for a wasp about to land in my salad

    I do hope I would
    Approve  of where your multi-
    feet have been lately!

    Pigeons wading through
    Pathway puddles must have on
    Their waterproof socks.
