Out of the Ordinary

Happy Thanksgiving

A day to give thanks.  I am  grateful for many things.  This has changed over the years.  Now in my late seventies  I have experienced a great deal over more than seven decades, examined the word gratitude and what it meant,  checked out various sources,  queried people older – and younger – how and why they expressed gratitude.   What stuck in my mind was  “Be grateful for what you have and more will come”.  I then experienced the benefits of  “Be grateful as if what you asked for has already come”.   This has become a life long pursuit as I deal with challenges along the way.  But then I realized that by not focusing on the past or worrying about the future I am left with the present, the now.  And I accept the ‘gift’.
